Welcome

Hurricane Irma Update

Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues, their patients, and all people impacted by Hurricane Irma. Now that the hurricane is over, the National Office has been in contact with the city of Miami and the Hyatt Regency to assess the impact of the hurricane. Fortunately, everything related to ANNA's Fall Conference is on schedule as planned. The hotel has power and is fully operational. The hotel has also reported that most restaurants, shops, and businesses in their vicinity are open. More than 300 attendees, speakers, and exhibitors from all over the country will be participating. We look forward to welcoming you in Miami for a successful program. At the same time, ANNA is happy to support Miami in its recovery efforts by holding the meeting as scheduled.

Hurricane Irma Update from Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau: Greater Miami & The Beaches Open for Business

We hope you, your employees and your organization fared Hurricane Irma with minimal impact throughout what were very challenging days. We are well aware we survived what might have been devastating, and our thoughts are with our neighbors in the Florida Keys, Caribbean, and Florida’s West Coast. The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has been hard at work with our partners ensuring the well-being of our visitors, assisting with accommodations for relief workers, and assessing the impact to our destination’s infrastructure.

Hotels - As of this writing, the great majority of our hotels are open for business, with many offering special rates for displaced Florida residents. Nearly all hotels have reported minimal or no damage. For more information, visit MiamiandBeaches.com.

Attractions/Shopping - We’re pleased to report visitors and locals are already enjoying our destination’s many assets, including our pristine beaches. Many of our popular attractions are greeting visitors. Shopping destinations are open, and many are serving as drop-off locations for much-need hurricane donations for our Keys and Caribbean neighbors.

Restaurants - The majority of our restaurants are open and welcoming diners, with several extending special rates in the wake of the storm. Many have also extended their Miami Spice promotional discounts through October 31. Make sure to check with individual restaurants for confirmation.

Visitor Centers -Twenty-one of 22 Visitor Centers are open or will open by September 18; a complete listing is available on our website. In the coming days, the GMCVB and our partner, the Greater Miami and The Beaches Hotel Association (GMBHA), will provide additional information on how the hospitality industry is lending support to our industry families in need. This information will be shared on the GMCVB and GMBHA websites. In the meantime, we encourage you to consider contributing to Hurricane Irma relief efforts via the American Red Cross.

We are open for business and look forward to working with you in continuing to welcome our visitors.
